Trend for Spring 2011: The 70s

From the Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 NYC fashion show:
70s inspired

marc jacobs spring collection

Overview:
70s fashion is about being natural and embracing nature at its best. The chiffon floor length dresses in Marc Jacob's collection make for a "light and breezy" attitude. The under emphasis of the waist furthermore shows the "light and fluffy" of the collection; it makes for a less hardened appearance and something more soft. The colors are also those of natural aspects found in the world: sunshine, flowers, sand etc. Overall, this collection is immaculate in emulating the 70s era of fashion (the good part of it, anyway).

Christian Dior
Fall couture 2010

(Gasp), Amazing.

This fall, Christian Dior's collection is all about mixing textures with color. The tulle, the emphasis of ruffles, the fur, the feathers, the plastic wrap head garment. Yes, the entire collection is appealing to the eye not only with different uses of texture but color as well. I **LOVEloveLove** the black garments with variations of color peaking through, in the form of a gradient or a transcending of colors. The swooping ball gowns mixed with varying colors against a solid black offer a new ideal of women being independent princesses. The flowing dress and contrasting colors offer a woman (me) to feel like a princess with a dash of fierce attitude. The shapes-- are extremely conscientious of a women's flirtatious figure, presenting an hourglass shape, with the tight waist and a curving hip, excentuating (as a whole) the femininity of the collection.
